It’s the Season of Giving at CSTK!

With the Holidays upon us, CSTK is getting into the spirit by giving back to the communities that support us. For several years, CSTK has joined with Thermo King in their “We Move Food” initiative. We Move Food is a nationwide philanthropic program designed to increase access to fresh healthy food by reducing waste and supporting nutrition education for families and communities that struggle with hunger and food instability. Nearly 1 in 7 children in the United States live with hunger. This is a large-scale problem and CSTK is proud to help in any way we can.

As part of the initiative, CSTK joined with The Brass Rail Steakhouse, a St. Louis area eatery, in their efforts to deliver free Thanksgiving dinners to people in need. Essentially, The Brass Rail Steakhouse provided the food, the volunteers, and the organization. CSTK provided the refrigerated storage*. Together, the community was able to deliver over 11,000 meals to local families!

In addition, we also donated the use of refrigerated storage rental units to Keystone Military Families, a Pennsylvania organization dedicated to providing support for our troops, our veterans, and their families. They currently assist over 150 military families every week with groceries, clothing, household items, and furniture. Their pantry is available 3 days a week and provides fresh food, frozen food, and shelf-stable food to those in need who have sacrificed so much.

Finally, our St. Louis facility also organized a food drive for Operation Food Search, collecting food and supplies over several months to distribute to hungry people in need. Established in 1981, Operation Food Search is the largest distributor of free food in the Missouri/Illinois region. They distribute more than 3 million dollars worth of food and household essentials to 330 community partner agencies, which in turn feeds 200,000 people each month – nearly one-third of whom are children. CSTK, as part of the We Move Food initiative, has established a long-term partnership with Operation Food Search to help.

“CSTK has a long history of contributing and donating to worthy causes,” says CSTK Chief Operating Officer Allen Lane. “We take a lot of pride in giving back and in helping make our community a better place, especially around this time of year. I would like to personally thank the Brass Rail Steakhouse, Keystone Military Families, Operation Food Search, and all the wonderful volunteers for giving us the opportunity to contribute to the important charity work they do. It was truly our pleasure to help. Happy Holidays to everyone from CSTK!”
